Wessex Reinvestment Trust – Charity

The charitable arm of the Wessex group is an active organisation working on forward thinking ways to support the activities of the rest of the group and continuing to work on developing innovative solutions to overcoming barriers to rural regeneration.  The specific objects of the charity are as follows:
 
1. The relief of poverty and unemployment in Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset and in particular in rural parishes, by:
 
1.1 The provision of financial assistance, technical assistance or business advice or consultancy in order to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed people in cases of financial or other charitable need;
 
1.2 The advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience;
 
1.3 The creation of training and employment opportunities by the provision of workspace, buildings and/or land for use on favourable terms;
 
1.4 The provision of financial assistance and debt counselling services to those in financial hardship;
 
1.5 The provision and improvement of housing and any associated amenities for persons in necessitous circumstances upon terms appropriate to their means provided that such power shall not extend to relieving any local authorities or other bodies of a statutory duty to provide or improve housing.
